Milan Fashion Week set the stage for a moment of nostalgia and reverence as Giuseppe Zanotti revisited one of his most iconic creations: The Slim. The designer presented half a dozen reinterpretations of the shoe that cemented its place in pop culture history, most memorably worn by Samantha Jones in Sex and the City.
The design’s story is as evocative as its silhouette. Conceived during a dinner at Slim, a seaside restaurant in Cesenatico beloved by the designer, The Slim emerged from a spontaneous sketch on a tablecloth. What began as a discarded fishbone was reimagined by Zanotti into a delicate jewel-like detail, draping with effortless sensuality across the foot.
Hosted within Zanotti’s Renaissance-style palazzo on Via Napoleone, the presentation balanced homage and innovation. The collection itself is made up of vibrant colours, jewelry details on the shoes, especially in gold, and many mule-style designs that I absolutely loved.
