Fashion Democracy: Top Designer wear available to all budgets

Versión en español al final ...

Since 2004 top fashion designers have been teaming up with different companies to produce new clothes lines available to a large range of costumers. We have seen the creations of Karl Lagerfeld (H&M and Macy's), Stella McCartney, Viktor & Rolf, Roberto Cavalli, Jimmy Choo, Sonia Rykiel, Lanvin, (H&M), Jean Paul Gaultier, Alexander McQueen (Target), among others, being sold out in just days, some of them in just hours.
Karl Lagerfeld said last September when talking about his new Macy's collection: "I collaborated with H&M before and I was the first to do it. I think there is something very modern to do that. It is very limiting to be only the one who does High Fashion. Fashion is high and low, and low isn’t low today anymore" (Associated Press Interview).
This tendency can be considered very modern. Lagerfeld's remark is also a good insight in how the Fashion Industry has evolved these last years. (Just think about Anna Wintour, Vogue Editor, being side to side with Lagerfeld when he launched his affordable Macy's collection !!!)

Who would have though that in 2011 we would be able to buy a Versace dress for only 149 dollars? Well this week it will definitely be possible with the launch of Versace’s exclusive collection at H&M. The collection will consist of a variety of styles and accessories. Because of the madness that this kind of event has created in the past, H&M is setting some ground rules to give their costumers the best opportunity to get at least one item. I've been a witness of the madness as I tried to buy a beautiful Missoni dress for Target but I couldn't even get into the Web page because it was unavailable, due to too much traffic !!! :(

Here in Canada the last successful fashion partnership is the one between Quebec's designer Marie Saint Pierre and Canadian retailer Reitmans. The beautiful line of dresses was sold out in just a couple of days and we have reports of people fighting over dresses in Reitmans stores. Wow !!! thumbs up to both for their success.

These partnerships are proving to be more than lucrative for both ends of the commercial Chain: consumers are getting top fashion designs items for a bargain price and designers and Fashion companies are increasing their revenues in current economic difficulties.
It sounds like a win-win relationship to me !!!

Here some pictures of these collections ...
