In the next two posts I'll be talking about a label that I love: V A I K E N. Valérie Tolila is the founder and head designer of this Montreal Fashion brand that launched in 2013. Following 13 years of extensive traveling in Europe, Valérie enrolled in Fashion Design at Lasalle College International. After graduating with Honours, she was chosen as the assistance to Vivianne Westwood during Istanbul's first Fashion Week. She had also the opportunity to work with other renowned designers including Ferragamo, Roberto Cavalli and Missoni. Designer António Augustus encouraged Valérie to start her own label and when she returned to Montreal she did exactly that. Since 2013 VAIKEN has made a name for itself as a brand that embodies the modern woman. VAIKEN has been awarded the Mercedes-Benz Start up Ottawa competition in 2014, has participated in Toronto Fashion Week and has been selected as one of the four finalist for the 2015 TFI’s New Labels Fashion Design Competition that featured the hottest new design talent in Canada. As Valérie put it herself: "VAIKEN  is in harmony with today's real, radiant and confident woman".

I personally love the sexiness of V A I K E N designs, how unique and feminine they are and how they fit your body perfectly. I also adore the use of geometric forms on her pieces, the mix of fabrics and the stunning crop tops. It is easy to look sexy and elegant wearing her exclusive creations. And of course the crafting is impeccable and the materials are of excellent quality. For V A I K E N lovers  this brand is available Online and at Simons stores in Montreal.

For this first look I'm wearing the beautiful Eloa sport jacket and the comfy Lola leather shorts. Finally temperatures are rising so we can definitely start wearing shorts. Here some images of my first look, an sporty yet chic outfit. Hope you like it! ;)

Esta semana les estaré presentando dos publicaciones acerca de una marca canadiense que me encanta: VAIKEN. Valérie Tolila es la fundadora y diseñadora de esta excelente compañía de moda creada en el año 2013. Después de viajar durante varios años en Europa, Valérie estudia Diseño de Moda en Lasalle College International. Graduarse con honores le permite trabajar como asistente de Vivianne Westwood durante la primera semana de moda de Estambul. También tiene la oportunidad de trabajar con varios de los diseñadores mas importantes de Moda y renombre internacional como lo son Ferragamo, Roberto Cavalli y Missoni. Mas adelante, es el diseñador portugués António Augustus quien le insiste a Valérie para que cree su propia marca y es exactamente lo que ella hace cuando regresa a Montreal. Desde el año 2013 V A I K E N se ha ido posicionando como una marca destinada a la mujer moderna. En estos 2 años de existencia, VAIKEN ha ganado la competencia Mercedes-Benz Start up en Ottawa, se ha presentado en la Semana de la Moda de Toronto y hoy se encuentra como semifinalista de la prestigiosa competencia TFI’s New Labels Fashion Design 2015 que premia los nuevos talentos en diseño de moda en Canadá. Como Valérie lo dice: "VAIKEN es una marca que esta en armonía con la mujer actual radiante y segura de si misma". 

A mi personalmente lo que me encanta de esta marca, son las formas geométricas y sensuales de sus diseños, su originalidad, sus crop tops y como se ajustan perfectamente al cuerpo. Por supuesto la confección y los acabados son impecables y la calidad de los materiales irreprochable. La verdad es muy fácil verte sexy y elegante al mismo tiempo luciendo cada uno de sus exclusivos diseños. Para las amantes de VAIKEN, pueden adquirir esta marca en Línea y en las tiendas Simons en Montreal.

Para este primer look estoy luciendo el jacket en lana Eloa y los confortables shorts de cuero Lola. Finalmente las temperaturas comienzan a subir así que para alegría de muchas ya podemos empezar a usar shorts de nuevo. Aquí las dejo con algunas imágenes de mi primer look: Un atuendo deportivo y elegante a su vez. Talia Zoref a talented designer & Fashion illustrator

One of the best things of traveling and going to Fashion Weeks is that you have the chance to meet and eventually become friends with incredible talented people that love Fashion and Art as much as you do. I have always loved Fashion Illustrations but I have failed on trying to do one myself! :( It definitely requires an special talent to do it properly. Fortunately, I met Talia Zoref. Talia studied Fashion design and Illustration at George Brown College and graduated from the Fashion Styling program at the Toronto Fashion Academy. She is the founder of the website Fashion Scissors and the designer of The Talia Zoref Headpieces Collection which has been featured in different fashion shows and photoshoots. Nowadays, she is creating fashion Illustrations for different Magazines and also working as a freelance writer and stylist for X-Pose Magazine, Fashion Collective Magazine, Chloe Magazine and Con Art Magazine. She has attended many fashion events around the world such as Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week, World MasterCard Fashion Week in Toronto, Gindi Tel Aviv Fashion Week, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Berlin just to name a few. So here I present you some of Talia's creations including the awesome Illustration that she did for Eli in the Walk-in! Hope you like it... I loooooove it! ;)

Una de las mejores cosas de viajar y asistir a las Semanas de la Moda es que tienes la oportunidad de conocer personas muy talentosas que les gusta la Moda y el Arte tanto como a ti y que poco a poco se convierten en tus buenos amigos. Siempre me han encantado las Ilustraciones de Moda pero lamentablemente he fallado muchas veces tratando de hacer una! :( Definitivamente es necesario tener un talento muy especial para hacerlas bien. Afortunadamente conocí a Talia Zoref. Talia estudio Diseño de Moda e Ilustración en el George Brown College y se graduó del programa de Estilismo de Moda de la Toronto Fashion Academy. Talia es la fundadora del sitio web Fashion Scissors y la diseñadora de la Colección de Diademas Talia Zoref que han sido presentadas en diferentes desfiles de moda y secciones de fotografía. Actualmente, esta se encuentra creando ilustraciones de moda para diferentes revistas y trabajando como escritora independiente y estilista para X-Pose Magazine, Fashion Collective Magazine, Chloe Magazine y Con Art Magazine. Talia ha asistido a desfiles y eventos de moda alrededor del mundo como la Semana de la Moda de New York, Toronto World MasterCard Fashion Week, Gindi Tel Aviv Fashion Week y la Semana de la Moda de Berlin entre otros. Hoy les presento algunas de las creaciones de esta talentosa diseñadora entre las cuales se encuentra esta increíble ilustración que hizo para Eli in the Walk-in. As my friend and VOYPA head designer Daniel Sande says: "VOYPA is bringing in: street wealth, language, prestige and contemporary bourgeoisie"  This week I will be presenting you three different looks wearing some pieces from the new VOYPA KMS collection. The WMCFW was a blast! I really had a good time and I was impressed by the talented designers that presented their collections this year. I'll finish my WMCFW posts talking about David Dixon, Mikael D, VAWK and Stephan Caras.  

David Dixon is a brand that specializes in women’s contemporary evening wear or event dressing and for 20 years has been one of the top luxury labels in Canada. All of Dixon’s beautiful designs are manufactured in Canada with luxury materials from around the world. Dixon’s designs are carried in exclusive stores across Canada and in select boutiques around the globe. His designs has been worn by celebrities such as Meg Ryan, Linda Evangelista, Coco Rocha, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Nelly Furtado and  Katie Holmes among others and his collections has been featured in top publications including Vogue, Marie Claire, Elle, Elle Canada, Flare, Fashion, Zink, the Globe and Mail and WWD. What I loved the most about his collection was the combination of materials and textures and how elegant and edgy the monochromatic designs look. 

Mikael Derderian is one of the most talk-about designers in Canada. Since a very young age he was exposed to fashion and design by his parents who manufactured children's clothing. Recently he started his own private label MIKAEL D, and since then his designs have been carried in exclusive boutiques around the world and has been spotted in red carpet events. I was impressed by how original and sumptuous his designs are. His red dresses inspired from the Eastern culture will make any woman look stunning.
VAWK is a luxury ready-to-wear brand founded in Toronto by designer Sunny Fog. Handcrafted in Canada, it's exquisite designs are recognized for its excellent craftsmanship and quality. I really loved the trendy Subway inspired dresses (new "Fast Food" inspiration trend) and the awesome retro style in his designs. 

Stephan Caras was born in Greece and studied in Australia. Before opening her own label he worked for important fashion houses such as Guy Laroche and Hermes. Recently he has been included in the “List of World’s Top 20 Fashion Designers,” by CEO World Magazine and Runway Magazine as well as the “Top 25 Most Beloved and Inspiring Fashion Designers of the World”. His designs are so feminine and sexy. I loved the use of transparencies, the mix of materials and how his pieces enhance the feminine silhouette. Hope you like! ;)

La semana de la moda de Toronto estuvo increíble. La pase súper y además quedé impresionada con los talentosos diseñadores que presentaron sus colecciones. Para terminar mis posts sobre WMCFW les voy hablar de David Dixon, Mikael D, VAWK y Stephan Caras.

David Dixon es una marca que se especializa en ropa de mujer para cocteles y eventos especiales. Durante 20 años ha sido una de las marcas de lujo más importantes de Canadá. Todos sus diseños son hechos a la mano con materiales de alta calidad provenientes de diferentes partes del mundo. La colección de David Dixon se puede encontrar en boutiques exclusivas en Canadá y alrededor del mundo. Sis diseños han sido portados por celebridades como Meg Ryan, Linda Evangelista, Coco Rocha, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Nelly Furtado y Katie Holmes entre otras, además sus diseños han aparecido en importantes publicaciones como Vogue, Marie Claire, Elle, Elle Canada, Flare, Fashion, Zink, the Globe and Mail y WWD. Lo que mas me gustó de sus diseños fue la combinación de materiales y texturas y lo elegante y modernos que se ven sus vestidos monocromáticos.

Mikael Derderian es uno de los diseñadores de los que mas se habla este momento en Canadá. Desde muy pequeño estuvo conectado con la moda y el diseño pues sus padres fabricaban ropa para niños. Recientemente lanzó su propia marca  MIKAEL D, y sus diseños ya están siendo vendidos en importantes boutiques alrededor del mundo además de haber sido llevados por diferentes celebridades para eventos de carpeta roja. Me quedé impresionada con la originalidad y suntuosidad de sus diseños. Sus vestidos rojos inspirados de la cultura Oriental harían lucir fantástica a cualquier mujer que los porte.
VAWK es una marca de lujo Ready-to-Wear fundada en Toronto por el diseñador Sunny Fog. Diseñada y hecha a mano en Canadá, sus exquisitos diseños son reconocidos por la excelente fabricación y la alta calidad. De sus piezas me encantaron sus vestidos inspirados de Subway (nueva tendencia de diseños inspirados en cadenas de comida rápida) y el fantástico look retro de sus prendas.

Stephan Caras nació en Grecia pero estudió en Australia. Antes de fundar su propia marca trabajó para grandes casas de costura como Guy Laroche y Hermes. Recientemente fue incluido en la "Lista de los 20 Mejores diseñadores del mundo" de CEO World Magazine y Runway Magazine y también en el “Top 25 de los Más Queridos e Inspiradores Diseñadores del Mundo" Sus diseños son muy femeninos y sensuales. Me encanta como usa las transparencias, la combinación de materiales y lo bien que sus vestidos realzan la silueta femenina. Espero les guste! ;)
